Soundtrack

The term soundtrack (English) literally means a movie soundtrack or ( more figurative ) the setting of the film. Today, it refers mostly only the one specific film or computer game backed music (see film music). The soundtrack of a film or game may include newly composed music ( original music) and / or already existing works.

Soundtracks are often detached from their respective works published (eg as a record, audio CD or audio file).

The abbreviation OST or O.S.T. (Original Soundtrack ) refers to the music from the original soundtrack as opposed to a new recording.
