Soviet people

Soviet people is the name of the entire population of the Soviet Union, whatever their nationality.

The Soviet government promoted the idea of internationalism in the Soviet Union, whose numerous peoples should be part of a communist Soviet people, who should use the Russian language as a lingua franca for communication.

This doctrine has been and is on the one hand seen by representatives of other nationalities as a " tool of Russification ", whereas on the other hand viewed more as their side effect.
