Sowno, Koszalin County

Sowno ( German (old) Zowen ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the municipality Sianów ( Zanow ) in the district of Koszalin ( Koszalin ).

Geographical location

Sowno located 28 kilometers west of the county town of Koszalin in Pomerania. The village is on the Province Road 206 ( Koszalin - Polanów ( Pollnow ) ) on Kościernica ( Kösternitz ) and Sowinko ( New Zowen ) to reach. There is also on a side road connection via Ratajki ( Ratteick ) to Sianów ( Zanow ) (17 km ) or above Nadbór ( Nadebahr ) to Polanów ( 13 km). Place name

Sowno (Alt Zowen ) is located two kilometers north of Sowinko ( New Zowen ). The place name Zowen came to 1945 also in the Pomeranian Regenwalde. The name is probably of Slavic origin and derived from " sowa " = " owl " ( Zowen = Eulenort ). This lineage also arises from the Polish name Sowno, which also refers to the earlier lying in Regenwalde, now in the powiat Lobeski place Zowen = Sowno.

History

Old Zowen is an old, already existing since 1628 by Ramelsches fief. After that, it belonged to the family of Podewils - Krag and went in 1691 to the Glasenapp family. Since then Zowen had many different owners. From 1912 to 1945, there was then the property of Somborn family.

In addition to the 498.5 -acre manor, there were still four full Zowen farms with over 10 hectares of land and a settler point with less than 10 hectares. In addition, outside the village center existed deconstructions: Degradation 1.5 km north of the village had more than 10 acres of land. On March 6, 1945 the Red Army troops marched into the village. On the same day the landowner Ortwin Somborn and the tutor was shot. After the war, the village was put together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. The village population was at first in place and worked under Soviet and Polish administration. All families in 1946 were reported by the Poles from the site.

Old Zowen was renamed by the Poles in Sowno. The village is now part of Gmina Sianów in powiat Koszaliński in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship ( to 1998 Koszalin Voivodeship ).

Office Zowen

Old Zowen was until 1945 the seat of the Office Zowen district Schlawe i Pom. in the district of the Prussian province of Pomerania Pomerania. The municipalities Peace Village (now Polish: Powidz ) Latzig ( Laski ) and New Zowen were included in the headquarters district. Last Official superintendent were Ortwin Somborn and Eberhard Schmidtsdorff.

Church

The inhabitants of Old Zowen were predominantly Protestant Church. In the village there was a half-timbered church from the 19th century.
