Sōya Subprefecture

Soya (Japanese宗 谷 総 合 振兴 局, Soya - sogo - Shiko - kyoku ) is a sub-prefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture. It has an area of ​​4050.84 km ² and a population of 75 665 (as of 2005). Soya is the northernmost sub-prefecture of Japan.

History

The sub-prefecture Soya (宗 谷 支 庁, soy shicho ) was established in 1897.

On 20 October 1948, the village Toyotomi was slammed in the district Teshio from the sub-prefecture Rumoi the sub-prefecture Soya.

In the reorganization of Hokkaidō April 1, 2010 it was renamed Soya - sogo - Shiko - kyoku. Here, she was struck from the sub-prefecture Rumoi the community Horonobe.
