Spaatz Island

Spaatz is the name of an uninhabited island in the Antarctic. It lies off the Antarctic Peninsula, about 50 kilometers southwest of the southern coast of Alexander I Island.
The glaciated island has a land area of 4,100 km ².
The island was discovered by Antarctic explorer Finn Ronne on an expedition 1947/48 from the air, and named by him after Carl Spaatz, a former general of the U.S. Air Force.
