The Spanish euro coins are put into circulation in Spain Euro coins of the European currency Euro.

2.1 World Heritage Series

Circulation coins

Spanish euro coins have a custom image for each of the three series of coins. The smallest number was designed by Garcilaso Rollán, the average number of Begoña Castellanos and the two largest coins of José Luis Diaz. All designs include the twelve stars of the EU, the year of issue and the country name ESPAÑA.

First embossing series (1999-2009)

A first small change was in the year of issue, 2009 - In this series embossing the 12 European stars are slightly reduced.

Second embossing series (from 2010)

Spain to Finland and Belgium, the third country in the euro zone, which subjects its national sides, a redesign and thus comply with the European Commission's recommendation on a consistent design of the national sides.

In the second embossing series coin dispensing with the deposit of some stars at the edge and the country name. At the two highest values , the year the abbreviation of the mintmark appears on the left, the right of the head of the monarch. This corresponds to the specification of the European Commission, according to which the stars should be arranged on the outer ring as on the European flag.

Spain started in 2010 a 2-euro Gedenkmünzserie on Spanish World Heritage Sites. In total there are currently 43 places or objects in Spain World Cultural and / or World Heritage Site (as of end of 2012).
