Spec Ops (series)

Spec Ops is the name of a series of military simulation for PC and various game consoles. It was originally developed by Zombie Studios and published primarily for Windows and PlayStation consoles. After the first series titles for PC development was transferred to the U.S. Runecraft Studio Ltd, which developed the series for the PlayStation. While the games were originally published by Ripcord Games, the series rights are now with the U.S. publisher Take -Two Interactive. In Take 2 more developers came on board.

The Spec- Ops series has been designed as a realistic First-/Third-Person-Shooter, which integrates the player in team operations. The first two games were well rated. The sequels under Take 2 between 2000 and 2002, however, were favorable produced work, published last about Take 2s budget label Gotham Games, and received lower ratings. After ten years without further publication, Take 2 published in June 2012 Spec Ops: The Line, which was developed by German developer Yager Development Studio. It shifted the focus on the story and is influenced by imperialism - critical novel Heart of Darkness and its adaptation, the anti-war film Apocalypse Now.
