Specularity

Specularity or specularity (from Latin speculum, " mirroring ") is the degree of gloss, which has a material or surface. The term is common in the context of illumination models in computer graphics.

In the Phong illumination model as gloss is indicated by highlights that arise only where the light source is reflected itself. Size and brightness of highlights can be varied depending on the material to achieve a matt, rough or shiny, smooth appearance.
