Memory

Memory is a municipality in the Central Plateau of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland.

Geography

Memory is on the railway line of the Appenzell Railway between St. Gallen and Trogen.

On the political community memory includes the Speicherschwendi, a slightly deeper village.

Population

History

The name memory was in the Middle Ages, during the heyday of the monastery of St. Gall. It was first documented in the 13th century as " Speycher ". At that time the village church served as a granary in memory of the monastery. Between the Appenzeller farmers and the league of cities (including the city of St. Gallen) has been the first major battle of the thus begun Appenzell Wars below the Vögelinseggs at Loch 1403. The resolute to all farmers could decide this first military challenge in itself. It should be noted here, however, that they deceived the enemy with a cunning diversion. The Battle Monument, a hortatory Appenzell peasant with Morgenstern (created in 1903 ) with spähendem view towards the nearby town perched on the ridge of the Vögelinsegg. In order to lay the tracks of Trogenerbahn, a large piece of rock the Vögelinsegg was blasted away in 1900. The inauguration of Europe's zweitsteilsten train without gear that connects the Mediterranean villages memory and Trogen St. Gallen with today's metropolis of Eastern Switzerland, could be completed in time for the 500th anniversary remembrance outdoor game in 1903. 2003, another 100 years later, the first low-floor commuter trains were used. 2006 merged with the Trogenerbahn Appenzell Railways.

In memory there is the museum for life stories, a cultural project of the artist HR Fricker.

Sports

Had the FC storage in the season 12/13 to accept relegation to the first team in the league 5, the rise of TSV memory went on. The TSV could establish themselves in Serie A of the Companies football.
