Spen Whittaker

Spen Whittaker ( * 1871 in Accrington, Hyndburn County, † April 1910 in Crewe ) was an English football coach, who was coach of FC Burnley until his death. In 1903, Whittaker stepped up to the coach office. When he was in April 1910 with the train on the way to London to take a player under contract, he fell near the town of Crewe in a railway carriage. Only when you stop in the city was known that a man had fallen off the wagon. Finally, it was announced that this handle to Whittaker. Burnley held after his death a charity match against Manchester United at Turf Moor whose proceeds were passed on to Whittaker's family.
