Spettekaka

Spettekaka (roughly: " spit cake " ) is a Swedish specialty pastries, prepared and enjoyed especially in southern Sweden, Skåne. " Skånsk Spettekaka " is a protected designation of origin in the European Union.

Is produced Spettekaka from eggs, potato starch and sugar. The batter is allowed - as in the production of Baumkuchen - run a ring on a rotating skewer front of an open fire. The cake is very dry and until shortly before consumption stored in its transparent, air-tight bag. You eat it in small pieces which are traditionally cut with a saw blade to avoid excessive Krümelei.
