Spetum

The Spetum (also Runke, Runka, Friulian spear, corseca, corsesque, franz: chauve souris ) was a medieval polearm.

History

The Spetum has about two meters long handle bar, at the head of a long spear blade is mounted. At the height of Befestigungstülle ( Dille ) there are two sharp hook blade ( ears), which form more or less a seitab and backward curved hook.

The Spetum was meant to stab enemies, turn them tear and to use. Probably the lateral blades also served to defend against attacks.

The oldest late come from Switzerland, mid-15th century. Use it came in until about the beginning of the 16th century.
