Spheric Universe Experience

Spheric Universe Experience is a French progressive metal band from Nice, which was founded in 1999 under the name of Gates of Delirium.

History

The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist Vince Benaim, drummer Sam, and bassist John Drai under the name Gates of Delirium. Together, they played their first gigs in the south of France. In 2001, keyboardist Fred Colombo with singer Alex joined the band. They changed their name in order Amnesya, considered that further appearances and released their first demo. In August 2002, leaving Vince Benaim, John Drai and Fred Colombo separated from the rest of the band and changed the band name to Spheric Universe Experience.

Over the next eight months, the band worked on their debut album and released in April 2003 with singer Franck Garcia a demo. The demo called The Burning Box was sent to Intromental management in Denmark, which the band reached a Managementrtrag with this. The recordings for the debut album Mental Torments began with drummer Volodia Brice in August 2003. The album cover was created by the Swedish artist Mattias Norén. In early 2004 drummer left the band again and Volodia Brice took place in the spring of 2004 with Guillaume Morero a suitable replacement. Towards the end of this turn was replaced by Nicolas " Ranko " Muller. The second album, Anima was recorded in summer 2006 by Charles Massabo in Coxinhell studio and Kallaghan studio in France and mastered in Denmark in the Jailhouse Studios by Tommy Hansen. The cover was designed by Killustrations Media in Germany. The album was released in France on Replica Records in April 2007 worldwide via Sensory Records and exclusive.

The band then welcomed their new drummer named Christophe Briand. In September 2008, the band performed at the ProgPower USA in Atlanta. Then the band went into the studio to record another album, which was released in spring 2009. In autumn, the band played as the opening group for Threshold through Europe.

Style

The band plays technically demanding Progressive Metal, which is compared with other bands of the genre such as Dream Theater, Savatage, Symphony X, and Pain of Salvation.
