Spider -Man: Turn Off the Dark is a rock musical with music by Bono and The Edge of U2. It was 14 June 2011 at New York's Broadway premiere. At a cost of around 70 million U.S. dollars, it is the most expensive musical ever to be performed on Broadway. It is played at Foxwoods Theatre. Duration: nearly three hours.

The plot follows the comic Spider- Man by Marvel Comics. In 2002, it became public that Tony Adams was planning a musical. On 20 October 2005 Bono signed the contract. A few days later Adams died.

The musical acts through spectacular stunts: battles between the superhero and his opponent Green Goblin take place over the audience in the stalls in the airspace. The stunts were also the reason why there were several violations of performers in the sample phase.

The musical had over 180 mostly sold-out preview performances, even though the reviews were bad and the spectators had to pay the full price. The premiere was postponed six times. It took place in the presence of numerous prominent place: former president Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and tennis legend John McEnroe, television presenter Barbara Walters, director Spike Lee and actor Matt Damon, Steve Martin, Liam Neeson and Vanessa Redgrave were in the audience.

In December 2013 it was announced that the musical only until January 2014 runs in New York and then maybe in Las Vegas.
