Spinodal

As spinodal curve that is referred to in a phase diagram, necessarily, a phase transition must take place when exceeded. Nuclei of the dominant within the spinodal phase are unstable outside, but tend to exceed the binodal still the thermodynamically more favorable state within. It can with the binodal, from which it is completely enclosed, have common, so-called critical points.
