Spiny Ceram rat

Rattus feliceus is a rat and belongs to the subfamily of Altweltmäuse ( Murinae ). Their habitats are located on the island of Seram, from sea level to an altitude of 1800 meters. Presumably it relatiert to New Guinea species such as Rattus leucopus. In New Guinea, there is no species with which it has a strong resemblance. By 1986, it is considered a subspecies of Rattus leucopus, were Rattus Rattus ruber or ringens considered. There were only ten animals caught up today.

R. feliceus is a large reddish brown rat. The fur is spiky, the tail is short. The scales on the tail are relatively large. Females have 2 2 = 8 mammary glands ( two pairs on the chest and two on the abdomen). The belly is white. This species is 200 to 230 mm long ( snout-vent length). The tail can also be 200 to 230 mm long. The ear length is 20.5 to 23 mm. Adult animals weighing 272-345 g
