Splendor Solis

Splendor Solis or sun shine is an illustrated alchemical manuscript in German language from the mid 16th century. It was made by Salomon Trismosin and is dated 1582.

The oldest known copy of the alchemical fundamental doctrine dates from the years 1531-1532 and (Handwriting 78 D 3) of the Berlin State Museums is kept at the Berlin Cultural Forum in Prints and Drawings. Further copies ( total of 20 are known) are among others in the British Library (MS Harley 3469 ) to London and the Paris National Library.

The focus of the text whose authorship is not fully understood, is the production and operation of the Philosopher's Stone.

The illustrator said to have been Jörg Breu the Elder.
