Spolana

Spolana is a Czech chemical company founded in 1898 in Neratovice.

The operation is located on the left side of the same creek opposite the mouth of the Košátecký. The company came in 2002 in the headlines, as the flooding of the Elbe flooded the company's premises.

Dioxin contamination

Spolana produced 1965-1968 T- acid, the herbicide was the preparation, contaminated with dioxin and three blocks, many employees contaminated. The T- acid served as a precursor for the preparation of the military defoliant Agent Orange in the U.S. Army, which was used on a large scale in the Vietnam War. The dioxin contamination led in consequence to some serious damage to health by hundreds of thousands of U.S. soldiers and Vietnamese. This was not limited to the products of Spolana, the T- acid other suppliers was also charged.
