Spolas
A Spolas (Greek σπολάς ) was an armor in ancient Greece.
Description
The Spolas was a breastplate, which was made of leather. It consisted of a thick tunic were sewn to the leather strip. She was a very thin armor that allowed freedom of movement of the warrior. Due to the cheap Production also financially weak warriors could afford such armor.
History
Originally Spolas came from Macedonia was supported by 400 BC the Spolas especially of hypaspists and Ekdromoi. She was a parallel to the more usual Linothorax, which consisted of linen. Through the campaign of Alexander the Great this breastplate came to Greece.
