Spondylolysis

As Spondylolysis or spondylolysis is usually referred to the interruption of the pars interarticularis (the area between the upper and lower articular process ) in the arch of fifth (80 % of cases) or the fourth lumbar vertebra (15% of cases). There is a genetic predisposition, the Spondylolysis is never present at birth but developed subsequently. After completion of growth, they can be found in 6% of all adults. Traumatic origin is also possible. Exercise children who sports with frequent Reklinieren ( bending backwards ), such as gymnastics or swimming butterfly, intense, have an increased risk. As a result of Spondylolysis the mobility of the vertebral segment is increased, which can lead to asymmetric growth of the base and top plates and hence to the development of spondylolisthesis ( spondylolisthesis ). In rare cases, the Spondylolysis leads to the complete slippage of the vertebral body ( spondyloptosis ).
