Sponsianus

Sponsianus probably lived around the year 250 and was a usurper in the Roman Empire during the reign of Philip the Arab.

His likeness is known from two Roman coins ( Aurei ), which were found in 1713 in Transylvania. However, there is evidence that they are modern forgeries. So the back of the coin is identical to the Republican coins from the 2nd century BC Sponsianus ' existence thus remains doubtful.
