Sportfreunde Lotte

VfL Sportfreunde Lotte is a sport association with around 1,400 members in six departments of the municipality in the district of Steinfurt Lotte. The most successful and best-known section of the club is playing in the regional league football team.

History

The club was founded in 1929 under the name Turnverein Lotte and initially limited solely to gymnastics. After the founding of the association under the name VfL ​​Sportfreunde Lotte on February 9, 1946 next to the gymnastics also departments for football and handball were established.

After the footballer played over many years in the top flight of the fifth division, managed by the Association League Championship in season 2003/ 04 promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen. In the 2007 /08 season they reached there in fourth place and thus qualified for the new three-pronged Regional. The season 2008/ 09 ended the Sportfreunde under coach Maik Walpurgis in 10th place and qualified through the finals in Westphalia Cup for the first round of the DFB - Cup 2009/10. There, the sports fans of Bundesliga club VfL Bochum was randomly assigned who could barely prevail 1-0.

After the Sportfreunde Lotte in the West Season completed the Regionalliga 2011/12 season as a table runner with a point behind the second team of Borussia Dortmund, Sportfreunde complaint appealed the DFB and demanded a recording as the 21st member of the 3rd League 2012/13 because players of Rot-Weiss Essen had confessed to having set on the 36th game to a game against Borussia Dortmund II against the own team. This appeal was dismissed on 25 May 2012, as no match-fixing could be detected and also the appeal period had long expired.

At the end of the 2012/13 season the sports fans win the Regionalliga West and were thus secured the participation in the promotion round to the 3rd Football League, where they competed in two games against the Northeast Master RB Leipzig. The away game ended 0-2 lost at home led the Sportfreunde 2-0 after 90 minutes, but then failed in the extension ( 2:2 ) and thus missed promotion to the third division.
