Location

The Spronser Rötelspitze located in the southeastern Texel Group, a group of mountains of the Ötztal Alps. To the south, the Rötelspitze falls steeply to about 2,000 meters below the basin of Meran (Merano ) with the villages Algund ( Lagundo ) and Partschins ( Parcines ) in Val Venosta. The Algunder fraction Vellau ( Velloi ) is here at about 1000 meters. Neighboring mountain to the west, is separated from the Rötelspitze by the 2441 m high Hochgangschartl ( Il Valico ), the Tschigat ( Cigot, 2998 m). In the north, the Spronser lakes extend above the Spronser Valley. According to the southeast ridge pulls a little to Rötelspitze and on about the about 2200 m high Mitterjoch ( Giogo di Mezzo ) to 2294 m high Mutspitze.

Bases and routes

The normal route to the summit is from Hochgangschartl via west ridge as a marked trail in about half an hour to the summit. The access to the Hochgangschartl is possible from the south via an insured riser. As the bases Hochganghaus situated on 1839 m ( Rifugio Casa del Valico ) and can Leiteralm ( 1522 m) are above Vellau. Also from the north of the Spronser Lakeland can be reached Hochgangschartl, bases here are the Gasthof Oberkaser ( 2131 m) and the Bockerhütte (1700 m). Furthermore, the increase over the north ridge is possible.

In winter, the Rötelspitze can be climbed as a ski tour. This can lead to route both the northwestern flank and over the northeastern side by the cirque between Great and Little Rötelspitze.
