St John's Cathedral (Limerick)

The Cathedral of Limerick is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the Irish city of Limerick and is built in the Gothic Revival style. It is the largest church building in Ireland and its tower is 93.3 meters the tallest church tower of the island.

History

The architect of the Cathedral, Philip Charles Hardwick, began in 1856 with the construction work. 1861 was completed. Its tower is 94 m with the highest church tower in Ireland. The church was renovated in 2003 /2004. The older cathedral of the city, the St. Mary's Cathedral, part of the Church of Ireland.
