St. Landry Parish, Louisiana

The St. Landry Parish (French: Paroisse de Saint- Landry ) is a parish located in the state of Louisiana in the United States. In the census in 2010, the Parish had 83 384 inhabitants and a population density of 34.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) is Opelousas.

History

St. Landry Parish was formed in 1807 as one of the 19 original Parishes. It was named after Landericus of Paris (French: St. Landry ).
