St. Louis Eagles

The St. Louis Eagles ( IPA: [ lu ː seɪnt ɪs i ː ɡəls ] ) were a professional ice hockey team from St. Louis, Missouri. For the season 1934/35 the team of the Ottawa Senators was moved to St. Louis. Within a year there, the game has ceased operations.

History

After the former team in the NHL, the Ottawa Senators were, got into financial difficulties, it had decided to move the team to St. Louis. As a team name was chosen Eagles and the logo was modeled after the resident in St. Louis Anhäuser - Bush brewery.

St. Louis was at this time the seventh largest city in the United States and thus significantly larger than Ottawa. As early as 1932 had one tries to enter a team to St. Louis, but because of the high cost of travel had you refused to do so.

Because the Eagles had taken the place of the senator, they played in the 1934/35 season the intended Ottawa Schedule. Instead of many games in the nearer cities like Detroit or Chicago you will very often traveled to Montreal and Toronto. Both the rigors of train travel but especially the huge travel expenses needed on the budget and so you had to adjust to the end of the season the game operation.
