St. Lucia (Queensland)

St. Lucia is a situated on the Brisbane River suburb of Brisbane, the capital of the Australian state of Queensland. As a quiet suburb located about 4 kilometers southwest of St. Lucia to the center (CBD ) in the local administrative area ( LGA) Brisbane City and offers connections via bus and ferry ( City Cat ) Good transport links to the city center. Due to the proximity to the main campus of the University of Queensland (UQ ) where many students live.

History

In the 1860s, sugar plantations were established in St. Lucia. Was named the district of William Wilson, who bought one of the plantations in the 1880s and made available as residential area. Wilson was born in the island nation of St. Lucia and was reminded of the his home, so he named the district after his birth country through the sugar cane plantations of Brisbane.

Traffic

St. Lucia can be reached from the western districts and the city center. The lines end at the University of Queensland. There is also a Night Link service. On Friday and Saturday night the buses are equipped with security personnel.
