St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church

The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was built about 1832 Church in Manhattan, New York City. It was destroyed in the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 in the United States. The church was the only independent from the World Trade Center complex building, which was destroyed. At the time of the collapse there was no one in the church.

History

In the 1832 built building originally featured apartments and a restaurant. 1916 acquired Greek immigrants the building for $ 25,000 and converted it to a Greek Orthodox Church. From 1922, regular Greek Orthodox services were held. In the church there were some sacred objects, the Tsar Nicholas had donated to the church. After destruction of the church, the decision was adopted in 2011 to build the building elsewhere again.
