The rank of Staff Captain was introduced into the German armed forces ( Army / Air Force ) specially designed for military officers of professional service ( MilFD ) [A 1] in 1993 and for this the highest achievable rank.

Officers of the military professional service ( OffzMilFD ) are soldiers who have only taken the sergeant career and then ascend into this officer's career, due to their qualifications, skills and performance. For three percent of these officers promoted to staff captain and instruction in grade A13 can be done with only 22% of the total number of officers and candidate belong to this career. The equivalent for Marine Uniform for this grade is the staff captain lieutenant.

German armed forces in the 18th century

Until the first half of the 18th century in the German armies was the Staff Captain - in the cavalry staff captain - a rank between lieutenant and captain. This rank, another name was Staff Captain or Lieutenant, mostly received the actual leaders of companies who were the holders of not simultaneously.
