Stade de l'Épopée

The Stade de l' Épopée ( to German: Stadium of the epic ) is the stadium opened in 2008 in Calais, Pas- de -Calais, in the Nord -Pas -de- Calais, France. The Calais RUFC ( Calais Racing Union Football Club ) moved from the old Stade Julien Denis in the 12,432 -seat sports facility. All seats are covered. The construction costs amounted to € 22 million. The name of the stadium refers to the Cup season 1999/2000, when the then fourth division Calais RUFC moved into the finals and narrowly lost to the first division side FC Nantes 1-2.

Since you had to move in the cup matches 1999/2000 in the larger and more modern Stade Félix Bollaert, Lens by; grew the desire for a new stadium. The city of Calais commissioned the company Icade the implementation of the construction project. The design of the architecture firm Paulin Mariotti was selected. On 27 September 2008, the new sports facility was opened. In the opening game of the Calais RUFC and Stade Laval met (1:4) before 11,532 spectators each other. After the game there was music and a fireworks display.
