The Stade Olympique de la Pontaise is a football stadium in the city of Lausanne, Canton of Vaud. It is the home of the football club FC Lausanne-Sport. The FC Le Mont also wore their home games during the 2009/10 season from the Pontaise.

History

The stadium was built in 1954 and is owned by the city. The ground capacity is 15'786 places. The stadium has no standing. In the Stade Olympique in 1954 were five games during the football World Cup held, including the " heat of battle Lausanne ". Also held the annual international athletics event Athlétissima in this stadium. The suffix " Stade Olympique " the Lausanne football stadium does not deserve, because there once Olympic Games have taken place, but because Lausanne is since 1915 the seat of the IOC.

In the medium term, the stadium will be torn down. In its place arises in the context of " Métamorphose " project, a new ecological district with 2000 apartments. The sports facilities along with stadium by 2012 moved to the shores of Lake Geneva, where a new football arena with 12,000 to 15,000 seats will be built. A referendum that would have prevented this decision was rejected on 27 September 2009, around 56 % of the vote.
