Atalanta Bergamo UC AlbinoLeffe

The Stadio Atleti Azzurri d' Italia is a stadium in the northern Italian city of Bergamo, in Lombardy.

It is the home of the football clubs Atalanta and UC AlbinoLeffe and offers approximately 26,393 visitors. The stadium site is approximately 35,000 square meters and is situated in the north of the city.

The stadium is considered because of its outmoded equipment and poor view of many spectators as obsolete. Therefore, the engineering firm Arup currently involved with the planning of a new multi-purpose stadium for Atalanta Bergamo.

History

The Atleti Azzurri d' Italia was built and opened in 1928 and was initially named Stadio Mario Brumana. With a field size of 120 × 70 m, it is suitable for both football and for rugby games. The official inauguration took place on 23 December of the same year, on November 1 was the game Atalanta against U.S. Triestina been played the first football game. At the time, the stadium only from the main uncovered and the covered main stand and offered 12,000 spectators.

Over the years, the stadium was rebuilt again and again, the two curves have been added, covered grandstand and the athletics track eventually removed. The capacity increased by to its current 27,000 seats, about 8,000 of these seats.

Since the 2003/ 04 season, the UC AlbinoLeffe wearing their home games also from the Atleti Azzurri d' Italia. After the small club had risen from the lying northeast of Bergamo places Albino and Leffe in the B series, the own stadium no longer met the requirements.
