The Stadio Renato Dall'Ara is a football stadium with track and field facility in the Italian city of Bologna.

It is named after the longtime president of the local football club FC Bologna, named, who also play their home games here. The stadium now has 39 444 seats.

History

The Stadio Renato Dall'Ara was built between 1925 and 1927 and on 29 May 1927 during a friendly match between Italy and Spain ( Result: 2-0) inaugurated. The original name of the arena was Stadio Littoriale, the audience capacity was about 50,000. For the inauguration even 60,000 spectators are said to have pushed the stadium. The field surrounding an athletics track and opposite the main stand was a large Marathon. The stadium was home during the World Cup 1934 two matches, after the fall of the fascist regime was renamed " Stadio Comunale ". In 1983, the stadium eventually got its current name, it was named after Renato Dall'Ara, the president for 30 years, the FC Bologna and in 1964, three days before the playoff game to the Italian Cup against Inter Milan, died.

At the 1990 World Cup Stadio Renato Dall'Ara was thoroughly renovated and renewed the floodlights. The capacity dropped to 39 444 seats.
