Stadt-Express

The City Express (SE ), formerly partly City-Bahn (CB), was a type of train of Deutsche Bahn, the metropolitan areas combined with the environs. This type of train is, however, still wanted by the special-purpose associations, order the local transport services. This means that even today lead transport lines are operated by private providers, the term City Express.

Concept

The City Express had a development function in the environs and held there at every station. In other local trains (S -Bahn, regional trains ) developed core area of the metropolitan area but he drove accelerated as a Regional-Express, so there were only the most important railway stations served.

Not all city - express lines correspond strictly to this concept, some lines operated also at the core of all stations (except pure S -Bahn ).

The City Express belonged to the transport and was therefore free of extra charge.

Current situation

The German Railway has taken the product identifier SE or CB from the market. The services have since been provided by regional train or regional express shipments. Some of these lines put the concept of the city - Express today at yet.

In Hesse, the name of the part of the RMV is still used, there are several SE- lines, which serve the Hessian countryside away from the Rhein -Main area well connected to the city of Frankfurt am Main and its central transfer hubs Frankfurt ( M) to connect the main train station. If the German railway operator is, the trains will turn out but as a regional train or Regional Express.
