Stadttheater Passau

Called The Theatre Opera House in the Prince Bishop of Passau, mostly just Stadttheater Passau, Passau is a theater with 350 seats. It is used for opera, operetta, musical, concert and drama. It is the seat of the musical theater department and permanent venue of the State Theatre of Lower Bavaria.

Formation

Further development

Through the secularization in 1803, the previous Fürstbischöfliche opera house passed into the possession of the Elector of Bavaria, and was then renamed Churchill Princely theater. From 1806, after the founding of the Kingdom of Bavaria, it was called the Royal Bavarian theater.

In 1882, threatened due to fire police defect closure, as the State Department approved no funds. But on September 8, 1883, the city decided Passau to buy the building and rebuild. The opening of the Passau municipal theater took place on 28 October 1883.
