The Stampe & Vertongen SV -4 is an aerobatic biplane aircraft from the 1930s.

History

In 1932, the designer of Stampe & Vertongen, George Ivanov, SV - 4, was commissioned to design a new machine. This leaning significantly to the De Havilland "Tiger Moth ", which was distributed by the company in Belgium. The first flight took place on 13 May 1933.

Construction

The model SV -4C is equipped with a 145 -hp, four -cylinder engine hanging Renault P -PEI, with which it reached a maximum of 198 km / h. Use

The Belgian Air Force was after the Second World War to replace their DH82 "Tiger Moth " in 1947 and ordered 65 SV -4B for the " Ecole de Pilotage Elementaire " ( Basic Flying Training ). The future pilots began their flight training on SV -4B until they were replaced by SIAI - Marchetti SF.260 in 1969.

From the Stampe SV -4 & Vertongen total of about 1000 pieces for basic training with the French and Belgian Air Force were built. The last SV -4B was not completed until on 7 October 1955. Today in Germany there are about 15 aircraft of this type.
