Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation
The Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC ) is a non-profit organization that develops benchmarks for performance evaluation of hardware and software. Office of the Association is established in 1988 Gainesville ( Virginia). The members are all major hardware and software manufacturers and some research organizations. Each member of a subset of the SPEC can influence the development of benchmarks. The benchmarks themselves are chargeable.
With the acquisition of a license to undertake the relevant businesses to always publish the complete results. This ensures that not only the good results of a computer can be used promotionally effective, but the broadest possible cross- section is created that shows possible hindrances.
Benchmarks
The SPEC is divided into
- OSG (Open Systems Group)
- HPG (High Performance Group )
- GPG (Graphics Performance Group )
Benchmarks of the OSG exist for the evaluation of
- Processors: current CPU2006. CPU2006 was released in August 2006 and replaces the CPU2000. - CPU2006 includes two benchmark collections CINT2006 (12 integer programs ) and CFP2006 (17 floating point programs ). - Expired previous versions: CPU89, CPU92, CPU95, CPU2000 (since 24 February 2007 are not accepted CPU2000 results more for publication. )
- Java Application Server: SPEC jAppServer2004 ( Expired: jAppServer2001, jAppServer2002 )
- Including Java Server Infrastructure: JBB2005, jEnterprise2010 ( Expired: JBB2000 )
- Java Message Service ( JMS): SPECjms2007
- Java Virtual Machine: JVM98
HPG benchmarks exist for the evaluation of
- Supercomputers: SPEC HPC2002
Benchmarks of the GPG exist for the evaluation of
- OpenGL graphics cards: SPECviewperf
