Stanford Physics Information Retrieval System

SPIRES (Stanford Public Information Retrieval System) is a bibliographic database of publications and preprints in physics and mathematics, especially in high-energy physics. It is operated worldwide in collaboration with other institutions physics at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center Stanford University.

History

The website of the database was at the time of their creation (1991 ), the first in the United States and the first database ever, on which could be accessed via the World Wide Web. Meanwhile it has become associated with the ArXiv become one of the most important research tools for researchers in the field of high energy physics scientist. In April 2012, SPIRES was completely replaced by INSPIRE HEP, which is now the most important information platform in the field of high energy physics.
