Stanislav Sucharda

Stanislav Suchardas ( born November 12, 1866 in Nová Paka, † May 5, 1916 in Prague) was a Czech sculptor and medalist.

Life

Suchardas was in the Podhorecký Mlýn, the son of Antonín Suchardas and the miller's daughter Anička, born Šádkova born. He first studied in Pardubice, then at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and continued his studies in the art figurative art image of Josef Václav Myslbek at the Prague crafts school continued.

In 1892 he was awarded for its bezel "Lullaby " a prize of the Vienna Künstlerhaus. Suchardas initially created numerous plaques and medals with fairy tales and mythical motifs as well as commissioned works, among others for the Prague Savings Bank, the Wilson Station, the State Bank and the New City Hall of Prague's Old Town.

1898 Suchardas began his major work, a monument to František Palacký. As head of the Kunstverein " Manes " recorded in 1902 Suchardas responsible for the first exhibition of Auguste Rodin outside of France. Together with Jan Kotera he financed the construction of the exhibition pavilions in Prague's Kinsky Garden. In 1915 Suchardas was appointed professor at the Academy of Arts in Prague.

He was the brother of the sculptor and restorer Vojtěch Suchardas.
