Staňkovice (Litoměřice District)

Staňkovice ( German Stankowitz ) is a village in Okres Litoměřice, in the Czech Republic.

The municipality has 30 inhabitants (1 January 2004 ) and is located in the Bohemian Central Mountains on the eastern slopes of the Long Mountain at an altitude of 388 m asl It is located seven kilometers north-east of Litoměřice.

History

The first written mention of Stanchouici took place in 1255 in a certificate issued in Znojmo document in which the dispute between the pin Břevnov and the Order of St. John on the tithe of belonging to the Hospitallers Coming Ploskovice court with the villages Pohořany, Trnovany and Podviní was settled. After the Hussite Wars, the Lords of Ruppau ( Roupov ) acquired the farm. Since 1545 the existence of a fortress has survived. After the Battle of White Mountain, the goods Wenzel Wilhelm was confiscated by Ruppaus.

1711 the first chapel was built in the village square, which was consecrated to the Virgin of the Assumption 1724. In 1867 it was demolished and was replaced by a larger new building. A year later these to St. Consecrated Prokop. 1850 had 256 inhabitants of the village. The residential buildings in the village are stone houses in the neo-Renaissance and Empire style, and rustic wooden buildings. After 1930 Staňkovice had 41 houses and 150 inhabitants.

The local population lived before 1945 of hops and fruit, as well as livestock. From the nearby quarries stones were broken, from which it produced door frames and steps.
