Stanley Lane-Poole

Stanley Lane - Poole ( born December 18, 1854 in London, England; † December 29, 1931 ) was a British orientalist and archaeologist. He was a nephew of the orientalist Edward William Lane.

From 1874 to 1892 he worked at the British Museum and then in the Egyptian research on Egyptian archeology. From 1897 to 1904 he was professor of Arab studies at Dublin University.

His main work is considered his history of Egypt in the Middle Ages (History of Egypt in the Middle Ages, 1901), which was widely reprinted and in Egypt's history ( A History of Egypt ) by William Matthew Flinders Petrie is included.
