Stanwell Corporation

The Stanwell Corporation Limited is an Australian energy company based in Brisbane. It is 100 percent owned by the State of Queensland, employs about 800 people and had 2011 sales of 562.6 million Australian dollars.

The Stanwell Corporation include the following coal, gas and hydroelectric power plants, which together have a capacity of around 4,000 megawatts:

  • Barron Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station
  • Kareeya Hydropower Station
  • Koombooloomba Hydropower Station
  • Stanwell Power Station
  • Tarong Power Stations
  • Mica Creek Power Station, Mackay gas turbine, Swanbank B and E Power Station and Wivenhoe Small Hydro

Also in possession of the Stanwell Corporation, the coal mine Meandu is mine. The Toora Wind Farm in Victoria was sold to Transfield Services 2007. The Emu Downs wind farm in Western Australia was sold. Since July 2011, Tarong Energy is completely a subsidiary of Stanwell Corporation.
