Starina reservoir

Starina (Slovak Vodná nádrž Starina ) is a reservoir north of the town Stakčín in the Carpathians in the north-east Slovakia. The reservoir lies on the River Cirocha within the National Park Poloniny and was built from 1983 to 1988. It has an area of ​​240 ha a capacity of 59.8 million cubic meters of water and is an important water reservoir for the Eastern Slovakia, mainly in the cities of Prešov and Košice. The 7 places Starina, Dara, Ostružnica, Smolník, Ruske, Velka Polana and Zvala were flooded as a result of dam construction, the place Starina, today the district of Stakčín, gave him his name.
