The School of Library Science and Information Technologies ( Bulgarian Университет по библиотекознание и информационни технологии ) was founded on September 2, 2004 after a decision of the Bulgarian Parliament in Sofia. It is the legal successor of the Library Science College and the State Library of Scientific Institutes existed since 1950.

The university has so far ( 2010) on a faculty with the departments of library science, information systems, corporate communications and general education. It can be purchased both Bachelor and Master degrees. The study programs meet the Bologna rules with the credit system (ECTS).

The University is a member of the network of Balkan Universities ( Albania, Bosnia - Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey).
