Stathmopoda auriferella

Stathmopoda auriferella is a butterfly of the family of Stathmopodidae.

Features

The moths reach a wingspan 9-13 mm. Head and forehead ( frons ) shining yellowish white, the vertex (vertex ) is ocher. The antennae are yellowish white and sometimes have slurred ocher rings. Thorax and tegulae are ocher. On the dorsal thorax is a wide, brown longitudinal line. The front wings are ocher- colored and have a shiny, yellowish white line at the base of the vane inner edge. A small, dark brown costal spot is located near the wing base, followed by a thin brown line on the wing leading edge and the costal fold. Before the wing middle is a broad, dark brown, slightly curved inwards and medially narrowing binding. The Subapikalbereich is dark ocher brown and towards the wing inner edge. The fringe scales are ocher ocher brown and the inner edge of the wing costal margin. The hind wings shining yellowish white, they are on the wing and the inner edge at the wing tip yellowish gray.

Dissemination

Stathmopoda auriferella is widely distributed in the Oriental and Afrotropical. In the Palearctic you find the type only in regions of subtropical climates such as the Middle East and the Far East of Russia.

Biology

The caterpillars live in silken cocoons in different types of rotting plant material. The caterpillars were also found in living flowers, seeds and stems of plants that have been hurt by other invertebrates. The species is a pest of minor importance in several crops. These include Kiwi ( Actinidia sinensis), mango ( Mangifera ), oranges and sorghum millet ( sorghum). The moths fly from June to December, two or three generations, there seem to be formed.
