Stathmopoda pedella

The Stathmopoda is a genus of butterflies of the family of Stathmopodidae.

Features

The head is scaly smooth. The sensors are about 3/4 as long as the forewings and ciliated in the males. The labial palps are cylindrical and straight, and the third segment is greatly bent upward. The forewings are narrow lanceolate and acuminate towards the apex. They often have a yellowish or brownish drawing. The hind wings are very narrow and straight.

The genitalia of the male uncus and Gnathos are equal. The Tegumen is curved. The Valven have a thickened edge cucullus is short and rounded. The saccule is formed either well or poorly. The Vinculum is rounded, the sac is absent. The aedeagus is tapered cylindrical or distally. Cornuti are either present or absent.

The genitalia of the females are the Apophyses anteriores about 1/2 to 2/3 as long as the posterior Apophyses. The antrum is wide and cup - or funnel-shaped. The ductus bursae is quite broad and often wrinkled. Corpus bursae with one or two signals. The ductus seminalis is usually long and slender, and often has different shaped extensions. The transition region between the ductus seminalis and corpus bursae is provided with variable teeth or needles.

The species of the genus are found worldwide and are used mainly in tropical and subtropical areas before. Distribution area is the Orientalis.

Biology

Biology is known only in a few species. Accordingly, the caterpillars live mainly in dry flowers, fruits and leaves of various plants.
