Štěchovice Reservoir

The hydropower plant Štechovice lies above the town Štechovice about 25 kilometers south of the Czech capital Prague and is part of the Vltava cascade. The resulting reservoir dates back to the barrier Slapy.

The system consists of a hydroelectric power plant with two Kaplan turbines with a capacity of 11.25 MW and a pumped storage power plant with a Francis turbine with a peak power of 45 MW. The upper basin Homole of the pumped storage power plant is located about 500 meters south of the mountain Chlum. The difference in altitude between the two seas is 220 meters.

Besides producing electricity, the plant is also used to buffer the irregular outflow of the dam Slapy. In the northern part of the barrier is a lock. In the middle part of the plant are 5 weir openings each 20 meters wide. Under the central defense is the bottom outlet of the system.
