Stede Bonnet
Stede Bonnet (* 1688, † December 10, 1718 ), known as the "Gentleman Pirate ", was a wealthy and educated landowner before turning to piracy.
Life
Bonnet sailed some time with Blackbeard, who quickly realized that Bonnet was not a good leader and an incompetent sailor. Blackbeard sat Bonnets ship to another pirate captain as a. Bonnet himself now spent a long time as a "guest " on Blackbeard's ship, which probably meant that he was something of a prisoner. During the years 1717/18, the two pirate ships raided numerous merchant ships in the Caribbean.
Finally Bonnet gained his freedom - whether by escape or release by Blackbeards is controversial - and rescued a group of pirates, Blackbeard was exposed on a sandbank. With this, he held a few months the pirate crafts.
In October 1718 Bonnets ship near Wilmington, North Carolina was captured and made available to the crew and their captain of the process. Up to four pirates eventually all were executed in November of this year.
