Stefan Abadzhiev

Stefan Abadschiew (Cyrillic Стефан Абаджиев, in Germany usually transcribed Abadjiev; born July 3, 1934 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian football player and football coach.

Career

Abadjiev won with Levski Sofia 1952, the National Youth Championship in 1953, and came into the first team of the club, where he remained until 1968. With Levski he won three times the Bulgarian Cup four times and the Soviet Army Cup. 1965/66 he took part with his club at the European Cup of Champions, where you failed to Benfica in the knockout round. Abadjiev played 27 international matches for the Bulgarian national team and participated with the national team at the 1960 Olympic Games and the World Cup 1966, at the World Cup but he remained without use.

1968 emigrated Abadjiev to Germany, where he was also active in football. At first he was as a player at SV Wiesbaden active. Thereafter, he trained at the Coaches Academy Cologne for football coaches. After having worked at the ASC Dudweiler in this capacity from 1974, he was at the end of the season 1974/75 as the successor to Erwin Türk coach for five games in the 2nd Bundesliga with Borussia Neunkirchen. 1982/83 he was coach of FC Homburg in the Oberliga West, but was replaced during the season. He then coached nor the amateur team of 1 FC Saarbrücken.
