Stefan Nystrand

Stefan Nystrand ( born October 20, 1981 in Haninge ) is one of the most successful Swedish freestyle swimmer of our time.

Career

His father Sture Nystrand is Swedish, his mother Smiljana Kokeza was born in Split, Croatia. His specialty is mainly the short course, where he was able to win a total of 25 medals at World and European Championships. In the European Swimming Championships in Budapest in 2006, he could also appear for the first time on the long course, behind Filippo Magnini when he won the silver medal in the 100 m freestyle distance.

The following year, he won with a new Swedish record the bronze in the 50m freestyle at the World Swimming Championships track in 2007 in Melbourne.

Nystrand was also a two-time participant in the Summer Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004, where he more than 50 m freestyle with the fourth place achieved its best ever Olympic placement 2004.
